PARENTING AND MOTHERHOOD
ABOUT ME |
My approach in this topic is grounded in my own experience as a mother as well as an attachment based, feminist and anti colonial perspective. What this means practically is that discussions acknowledge that parenting is incredibly difficult to do in a society which prioritizes independence, paid work, busy-ness and perfection. We also acknowledge that it doesn't have to be this way and actively work towards more satisfying, relaxed and fulfilling relationships with our children, ourselves and our communities.

WHAT DO PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IN SESSION? |
-emotional regulation (how to manage stress, anger, fear, etc. in ourselves and supporting our children in the same)
-re-villaging (explore how colonial models of parenting leave us isolated and exhausted and learn how to recognize what we need and how to get it) -your parenting inheritance (how were you parented and how does this impact your own experience as a parent?) -attachment (healing our own attachment wounds and creating security with our own children) -exploring ancestral line of parenting (what were traditional parenting practices in the cultures I descended from, what worked, what didn't, what do I want to integrate, what do I want to let go of) |
INSURANCE COVERAGE |
Services are covered by most extended health plans. I always recommend that you double check with your plan before starting therapy. You will ask your provider whether they cover, "a registered psychotherapist (RP) who is supervised by a registered psychologist". Payment is due at the end of session and I provide you with a receipt which you submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
